New Music: El Guincho streams new material
It has been over 2 years since El Guincho released "Pop Negro" an album that garnered him worldwide & critical recognition. Today El Guincho is streaming new music on his website.
It is a 25 minute mix called Trances that is a collection of what he's been working on since then.
It sounds very promising. I look forward to hearing the new material as a whole album.
Enjoy it here:

New Music: Atoms for Peace release new song
Thom Yorke's side project Atoms for Peace with super producer Nigel Godrich & badass bass player Flea have their 2nd album coming out Feb. 25th, 2013 and it's titled Amok but today they decided to put out a new song called "Judge, Jury and Executioner." Enjoy!
from AFP's Facebook wall:
So in the midst of yet more weird weather and the beginning of another year it feels right to put out a song called ..... Judge Jury and Executioner from Amok. It's up on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4tW3mhp9io - I hope you like it.
The flip side of the release is a tune called S.A.D.
Recommendation: Jorge Drexler's geeky music App
I wrote about this awesome super nerdy app for Remezcla and I highly recommend you download it.
It's available in many formats and best of all it is totally free on his website.
Below is an excerpt from my Remezcla article published January 7th, 2012:
Recently, more artists have begun using applications in innovative ways that enables them to add features and additional depth to their songs. By using modern technology that is readily available to many of us with devices such as tablets and smartphones, it allows the artists to explore undiscovered territories that makes the listener’s experience a more personal, unique, and interactive one. Most notably was Björk’s Biophilia which was the “first app album” ever where each song had its own application that provided interactive material pertinent to the song’s title or inspiration. Now being added to this expanding roster is the Uruguayan Academy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Jorge Drexler. Music geeks and nerdy music lovers will rejoice!
Drexler recently teamed up with Samsung to release an application called n. The app is named “n” since in mathematics, it is the symbol for a series of natural numbers that can offer multiple solutions to an equation, and that was partly Drexler’s inspiration for this app. The app features three compositions that were specifically written for this interactive project that Drexler refers to as “aplicanciones” (application + songs).

My favorite music videos of 2012 (Part 2)
Calle 13 - La Vuelta al Mundo:
I played this song out and sung this lyrics over and over like a mantra. When the video came out I was so happy to see how creative it was. We all have been trapped in the mundane and dream of escaping one day and follow your heart.
The simplicity of this video is what makes it magical. It's very well executed and goes to show that you don't need to have a big budget to be effective and imaginative. DIY all the way!
Fiona Apple - Every Single Night:
Such odd imagery, but effective nonetheless. Although, I feel like Fiona looks a little unhealthy I was thrilled to see her back in full effect.
My favorite music videos of 2012 (Part 1)
alt-j (∆) - Breezeblocks:
This technique has been done so much before, but I found it very effective especially for the vibe of this song.
Super Guachin - La Gorra:
I love this song and this video is perfect for their glitchy 8-bit video game sounding cumbia dub.
M.I.A. - Bad Girls:
This is my absolute favorite video of 2012. I love that M.I.A. took something so trivial as women driving that is very taboo in parts of the Middle East and made a political statement while not being so preachy about it and having fun with it.
